Brandenburger Tor is one of Berlin's most famous landmarks, an early neoclassical triumphal arch standing at the western edge of Pariser Platz in the Mitte district. Built between 1789 and 1793 on the order of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II and designed by Carl Gotthard Langhans, it closes the famous boulevard Unter den Linden.
