The Alcazaba of the Alhambra is the oldest surviving part of the Alhambra complex, a fortress standing at the western tip of the Sabika hill in Granada, Spain. Built by Muhammad I Ibn al-Ahmar, founder of the Nasrid dynasty, after 1238 on the foundations of an earlier 11th-century Zirid fortress, it is a roughly triangular compound whose corners are marked by the Torre del Homenaje in the northeast, the Torre de la Vela in the west and the Torre Hueca in the southeast.
